A House on Fire in Denpasar

Residents around Jalan Yudhistira in the old town of Denpasar was shocked by sudden fire burning down a house owned by the former district head of Kuta A.A. Made Suratma. The eight buildings located at Jalan Yudhistira No. 43 was down to the ground, no injuries nor death was reported.

Witnesses in the neighborhood told that the house was leased by a man originated from Lombok, Rudy Syafrudin, who use it for his business in providing house maids, whilst a shops at the front was occupied for another business in printing and advertising. “There are about eight separated buildings within the perimeter, out of which only one is permanent”, explained a neighbor interviews by Bali Post daily.

Algeeda (16 y.o.), one of Rudy’s children reported that the fire was seen to started from an empty room on the upper floor whilst she was at the lower floor with five house maids. Fire with soaring flame suddenly shown up at around 9 P.M. getting her and the five house maids rushed to go out and shout for help. “There was nothing I can do more than ran out for safe my life. Fire has already been harsh when we realized its presence, there was no chance for us to try to turn it down”, said Algeeda.

The only thing she could do was to call for help from the neighbors who quickly rushed to help. Traffic along Jalan Yudhistira was closed. The next moment seven cars from Denpasar fire brigade came to the spot and fire successfully ceased within about an hour. “Report on loss has not yet been elaborated whilst the cause was identified as electrical short circuit”, explained a policeman.
