Large political event of presidential election conducted in such a long period indirectly affects inflation rate in Bali. In general political agendas create economical instability including increasing price and soaring inflation rate which are quite complicated to control.

“To minimize inflation rate initiated by political reasons, every stakeholders have to concentrate themselves in regional stability. Effect on prices normally comes up when political frictions create instability”, explains an economic researcher, Dr. I Gusti Wayan Murjanayasa M.Si.

The economical expert from Udayana University expected that availability of basic needs to be closely monitored and guaranteed during the event of presidential election. “We have to avoid the situation where logistic forgotten because of all attention taken up to political battle”, advised Wayan.

Wayan also expected that residents of Bali to prepare themselves for price instability, which possibly arises if political event affects logistic distribution. The main problem is the fact that most of logistic in Bali were supplied from Java. Every night hundreds of trucks crossing the strait to bring supplies into Bali cities, especially Denpasar.

“Be reminded that the risk that political event affects supply distribution is quite high, and therefore serious anticipation is required”, said Wayan. Leaders both in government and legislators who intend to fight for continuation of their position have to be reminded not to forget their public service functions. As a public servant, it is their obligation to put public service in higher priority than their own political ambition.
