To anticipate significant surge of demand during lebaran holiday, Garuda Indonesia allocates up to 44,533 seats in its 11 main domestic routes. Additional seats will be available to passengers flying between September 25th and October 6th. The airliner predicts 7% of demand increase during the period.

Denpasar as the busiest route in the country shall get the largest portion of additional allocation counting to 21,363 extra seats, out of which 18,740 will be allocated to Jakarta - Denpasar - Jakarta route and 2,622 will be allocated to Surabaya - Denpasar - Surabaya route. Surge in demand on Denpasar routes are normally taken by residents of main cities in Jakarta - especially those who do not celebrate Lebaran - spend the long holiday in Bali.

“We predicted that there will be significant surge of 7% in demand during Lebaran holiday this year”, said General Manager of Garuda Indonesia Denpasar Bagus Y. Siregar on sales briefing attended by 23 ticketing agents and 23 cargo service agents in Planet Holywood. In addition to additional flight frequency, Garuda Indonesia shall also operate larger aircrafts.

For Denpasar - Jakarta route, Garuda Indonesia shall increase the frequency from 15 to 18 flights daily, and replace the carrying aircraft wih wide-body type. Additionally, especially for Jakarta-Denpasar-Jakarta and Surabaya-Denpasar-Surabaya,  Garuda shall also apply special pricing policy to compensate empty lag in certain dates.

Bagus suggested attending agents to advise their clients to plan their travel during Lebaran holiday as early as possible. “We also demand the agents to pay more attention to regulation of ticketing sales”, Bagus added. Finally he expressed his appreciation to supports of travel agents. “We have reached our target on the first half of the year, and hope even better support from the agents in the second half”, said Bagus.
