Forest rehabilitation program which was planned to safe 1,000 hectares of critical land in Klungkung regency at the moment in question. As the year is closing, there are no evidence that the program is comencing. There are also no delivery schedules of the 400 trees per hectare.

Head of Klungkung environment office Wayan Muliartha admitted the current situation and explained that tpe program could not be started before rainy season. “Unpredictable climate held rainy season behind expectation, we could not start planting new trees before rainy season starts”, said Wayan.

Furthermore Wayan explained that there are nothing for him to do more than waiting for the rainy season to start, which normally sometime between October and November. “We wish that the rainy season to come as expected, otherwise we have to postpone the program even further, as we could not plant new tree without watering”, Wayan continued.

The program is planned to cover 1,000 hectare of critical dry land in Nusa Penida, planting 400 various species including mahogany in every hectare. “The national government will deliver approximately 400,000 trees”, said Wayan.

The same program back in 2007 completed rehabilitation of 115 hectares.
