The tragedy of the first Bali bomn in Legian, Kuta, six years ago will remain as a bad memory of Balinese. Ni Luh Ernawati, widowers to one of the victims, has been forced to get over her new life with two children without his beloved husband Gede Badrawan.
She realized that without presence of her husband, she has to carry on her life, and God has helped her to get through. It a spirit to give better life for her children even without her husband, the 38 years old age Erna now enjoys financial sufficiency by running garment business together with a few of her friends. The company named Adopt a Coop is managed by Erni together with four other widowers of the bomb victims, Ketut Jontri, Rastini, Endang Isnanik, and Warti.
Erni explained that the business has just relocated to a new facilites two months ago. The business now occupies the new building rented at 45 millions Rupiah for five years period. “We are thankful that we now can afford to pay the rent on our own”, said Erna.
The early days of Adopt A Coop wich was formed after the first Bali bomb was the hardest part. The sorrow of loosing her beloved one whilst she realized that life should go on for the sake of her children was very depressing. With assistance from a social foundation, Erni and a few of her friends started the business with a very limited capital. “I do not quite remember the exact amount, but I recalled that with assistance of the foundation, we were salaried at 300 thousands Rupiah per month”, said Erna.
As the time goes by, the business run by Erna and her friends grew up. Her business offers various products such as t-shirt, blouse, saroong, shopping bag, cap, and sticker both on retail and wholesale. Beyond local market the product has also been exported to Australia. The business has no longer dependant to external assistance since three years ago.
Her Australian market has its own story which she considered as a pure good luck, which was started by her writing on the internet about her life as a widowers of a Bali bomb victim which continues to garment business. An Australian who read her writing was impressed and contacted her to supply products as ordered.
