The flood wich uses to drawn parts of Denpasar so far was caused by thrash flocking drainage and rivers. Therefore the city government of Denpasar will take action to minimalize thrash thrown to drainage and rivers. Among the actions being planned is to bring anyone who throws thrash into drainage and rivers to the court of justice.

The planned strict action was thrown up in a coordination meeting chaired by 2nd Assistant of the Mayor of Denpasar I Ketut Wisada, S.E. at the conference room of the Mayor’s office. “There will be no more socialization about this decision as socialization has been performed for very long,” says Wisada.

Socialization to motivate residents of Denpasar to dispose thrash only into available thrash bins has been performed in quite a long period. Unfortunately most of them remain in negligence. In addition to health problem, the such attitude also results in floods especially in rainy season. “Now the time to take strict law enforcement has come to make people wary, without which negligence attitude will remain forever,” says Wisada.

Wisada also instructed the office of public works to map locations where people throws thrash to drainage and river. The government will station a staff to watch and capture violation to local regulation on cleanlines nd pubic order. “Trial session to violator will be held in the nearest “bale banjar” to the spot,” says Wisada.

Head of Public Relation of the Mayor Office I Made Erwin Suryadarma added that the city government has once instructed every village to manage their own thrash management, especially outside reachabe service area of the government’s agency for cleanlines and landscape.

Unfortunately so far only a few villages have the arrangement as instructed. On the other hand residents complains the service provided by garbage collecting depo for irregular pick up schedule and high cost. In Sanur there is a collecting depo which charges as high as 35,000 rupiah per month. Another problem in the field is that the government does not provide sufficient garbage pools.
