An Australian tourist, Claire Alyce (22 years old) was robbed on Jalan Melasti, Kuta, Bali before the sunrise yesterday (Wednesday October 22nd). Police has arrested two suspects – captured by local residents – which were workers at construction project in the area. After forcefully took the victim’s hand bag the suspects was captured by local residents in their attempt to escape, which then immediately beaten down.
Both suspects are now being inteviewed by the police. “The case is currently being investigated,” said chief of Kuta police station Assistant Commissioner Benny Muryanto. Police explained that at about 3.30 in the morning, Claire with two of her friends were walking back to Hotel Padma where she stayed after enjoying Kuta night life at Bounty Bar. Suspects who have been watching them for quite a while approached them and pretend to be friendly and say hello, to which the victims responded without and suspiction.
Moment later one of the suspects suddenly grab the brown purse from Claire armpit, which later on known to contain 150,000 rupiah, 50 Australian dollar, cellphone, and some cosmetics. “The suspects who grabbed the purse run to the direction of the beach whilst the other took the opposite way,” briefed Benny. TheĀ victim got panic and started to cry for help, to which local residents immediately responded by chasing the suspects.
The suspects were immediately caught and people in emotion started to beat them resulting in wounds, before then been brought to the nearest police station. “So far we believe that this is the first crime they have ever committed,” said Benny.
