The first beach sport competition in Asia Asian Beach Games took a victim. British jet ski competition leader Jeremy reported missing in the sea around Nusa Penida on Friday (October 24th). Whilst the incident has not yet confirmed, search and rescue team has started search operation without any result so far.
As reported by Bali Post daily yesterday, Jeremy is the competition leader for jet ski in the first Asian Beach Games. No one knew what really happened. Officials at Nusa Lembongan lost a contact with Jeremy since 14.30 local time. Limited information about the situation confused officials in making their report to the police. No one could even confirm if Jeremy was really missing. However search has been started immediately after the incident reported. “We are still busy in searh operation,” said an officer of Bali coastal police.
High ranking officer at Bali coastal police Assistant Commissioner I Ketut Rai Suwandi when asked for confirmation by Bali Post daily confirmed that his office has received an information of missing person in the sea around Nusa Penida, however no official report has been submitted. “Normally anything happened in the event of Asian Beach Games should be reported to special police post at Puri Agung II of the Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur,” said Suwandhi.
His office was in obligation to follow up the information even without an official report and therefore a number of officers have been instructed to cooperate with the search and rescue team – standing by for Asian Beach Games event – to conduct search operation which involves helicopters. “We do not have sufficient data and at the moment search operation remains ongoing,” said Suwandhi to Bali Post daily in a phone interview.
