The victorious success of Barrack Obama who has just won the presidential election of the United States by beating John McCain has also been celebrated in Bali. 50 US citizens living in Bali enthusiastically celebrate the victory which made Obama the 44th President of the USA.

The event was held at Sector Bar in Sanur after they had their own version of the election. In the party US residents in Bali watched the whole process of election and counting back in their country through a wide TV screen. Obama’s dominance over McCain was reflected on the decoration of the event where Obama’s campaign attributes - like posters, pins, and t-shirts - were by far more dominant than McCain’s.

Attendees got more enthusiastic when the temporary count shown Obama’s victory against McCain. “Viva Obama,” yelled the attending supporters. A US citizen who has lived in Bali for the last five years Roger Kalhoeter told a reporter detik.com that he was very happy that Obama won the election. “I am proud of Obama’s victory,” said Roger.

Before the party, US citizen living in Bali have made their own version of election, which the result was not officially counted into the official result in their country. Their election was a token of their will to get involved in the democratic event back in their country. They marked their chosen candidate and drop the electoral card into the box. The result will be annouced today.

“We are participating one of the most important moment in the USA, it is a good political education to American people”, said the Vice Consul of the USA in Surabaya R. Chris Santoro who attended the event.
