Held at Rama Sita Room of Inna Grand Bali Beach tonight, the team consisting of the Tourism Office of South Sulawesi and other related stakeholders in tourism industry of the provice, led by the Head of Tourism office of South Sulawesi Drs. Ama Saing, will present Lovely December – a program to promote Tana Toraja, which will be conducted as tourism gathering titled “The Windows to South Sulawesi Lovely December”. Invited to attend the event are tourists, expatriate residents, and stakeholders of Bali tourism industry.

In addition to performance of traditional dance of Bugis, Makassar, and Tana Toraja, the main agenda of the event will be presentation of Lovely December, a strategic program to revitalize tourism sector in South Sulawesi started from Tana Toraja. Ama Saing said that the initiative of Lovely December program was intriduced by the Governor of South Sulawesi to restore the popularity as favorite tourist destination in Idonesia after Bali. “The Governor endorses a strong will to restore the popularity of Tana Toraja as a tourist attraction,” said Ama Saing at the representative office of South Sulawesi in Tuban, Kuta on Tuesday (November 25th.

Following the soft launching of Lovely December program at Rantepao, Tana Toraja back in August, the Governor of South Sulawesi Dr. Syahrul Yassin Limpo, S.H., M.Si.,M.H. explained that revitalization of tourism industry in South Sulawesi has to be started from Tana Toraja as the trade mark of South Sulawesi tourism with worldwide popularity. To ensure success of the program, the Governor to subsidize tourists – both domestic and international – intending to visit Tana Toraja through Lovely December program.

“Tourists will get into my responsibility as soon as they arrived in South Sulawesi. The government will give 50% subsidy, and along with all Regents in South Sulawesi I promise a full support to their holiday activities,” he said whilst explaining that the policy is intended as an incentive to attract tourist visit.

Lovely December prigram is purely the innitiative of the newly elected Governor of South Sulawesi, Syamsul. He has a stong will to improve weakening tourism industry in South Sulawesi starting from Tana Toraja. He said that Tana Toraja has once enjoyed enormous popularity. “Back in 1990 hotel rooms were used to be fully booked reflecting very high demand.”
