Open house program – locally known as simakrama – held by Bali Governor I Made Mangku Pastika has been conducted for the 3rd time. The monthly event scheduled every Saturday-Sunday of the last week of the month has continuously attracted public attention. The 3rd gathering event with Bali Governor held at the meeting pavilion (locally known as wantilan) of Bali House of Representatives building yesterday (Saturday November 29th) was packed of various elements in Bali residents.

In the event Governor Made Mangku Pastika and his deputy A.A. Puspayoga has admitted that his administration has not fully achieved his objectives in leading Bali to be safe, peaceful, and wealthy, the jargon which he endorsed during his eletcoral campaign abbreviated in Indonesian language into Bali Mandara. At he early stage of his admnistration period he needs time to conduct thorough assessment in the latest situation. Whilst he knows the problems in the field, he needs to clearly understand the real situation within the government structure including available resources. Hpwever the new Bali Governor who served as Bali Police Chief in the past assured that progress are on its way.

Among his continuous assessment effort is collecting public opinion through regular open house. With so much public opinion possibly collected, public policies taken will satisfy public expectation. Among programs he was about to start in 2009 is free medical visit to every villages in Bali. The Governor planned to conduct fre medical visit to 6,000 spots in Bali rural villages during his five years administration. “The visits will involve doctors and other paramedics,” said the Governor.

In response to opinions negatively analoging his open house program with rubbish picker, he easily accept the analogy. “As a public servant it is my job to choose usable stuffs out of waste,” said Pastika. There have been 35 quiestions and opinions collected during yesterday open house. Unfortunately time constrains has only allow 25 of them responded, leaving the rest well noted.
