Armed Robbery in Denpasar

An attempt of robbery took place in Denpasar at the midday yesterday (Thursday, December 4rd) on Jalan Veteran, only a few meters from Satria bird market. As the victim wrestled his robber, a couple of gun shots fired, but missed to hurt the victim I Made Adi Krisnaya (29 years old), a resident of Jalan Gatot Subroto, Denpasar.
The sound of gun fire has shocked people in the area which at a about 13.00 was quite packed as usual. Fortunately there has been no injured victim in the such horrible incident. The robbers which so far are not identified yet have also failed to take the victim’s belongings. They got away as soon as a police officer got to know their conduct. The non-uniformed police who then attempted to chase the robber has been shot. Fortunately the three bullets fired by the robbers have all missed their target.

Prior to the incident Made Adi withdrawn Rp. 75 million in cash from Lippo Bank on Jalan Thamrin, Denpasar. He then drove his car – a Toyota Kijang Innova – home through Jalan Gajah Mada and then turned to Jalan Veteran where he felt that his tyre was deflated and immediately pulled off.

As he got off his car, a robber approached and tried to pull away the bag he carried whilst another robber standing by on a motorbike. “As I got off the car someone suddenly pulled away my bag. I was shocked and reacted. I wrestled him,” said Made Adi. The victim who owns a fishing business on Jalan I.B. Mantra said that he hit the robber down. The robber then pull a gun out and fired it. “He fired two shots, one of wich got the car. They immediately got away afterward,” he continued.

The police office who passed the location and tried to chase the robbers was shot as well. At the first turn the robber fired their gun. However he kept on chasing until he lost robber close to Bank Mandiri Building at Udayana Shopping Complex. “I chased the robber from the location and lost them somewhere close to Bank Mandiri. I was shot three times. Unfortunately all of them have missed me. The first shot was fired at the turn of Jalan Spratman, the second and Jalan Melati, and the last one somewhere close to Tiara Dewata,” said the police.

Eye witnesses said that the robbers were dressed in all black including jacket and pants. The one driving the motorbike wore black helmet whilst the other did not wear one. He only wore a blue Moslem praying hat. “When he werestled the victim, the hat has been dropped. The robber immediately took and wore it before he escaped,” said a witness interviewed in the location.
