Increasing alertness is essential to prevent potential victims, damages, and losses in event of devastation. So much we prevent, incident of devastation is something inevitable and in many cases unpredictable as well. Therefore alertness and increasing public participation to minimize impact of the incident is very important. The Deputy Mayor of Denpasar, IGN Jaya Negara, stressed the message in a briefing for devastation response on Tuesday (December 9th) at the yard of Denpasar Mayor’s Office. The briefing was attended by all offices and teams within the city government of Denpasar.
Jaya Negara said that preparation and alertness have to be maintained and improved even if there are no events of devastation. He reminded all units to increase continuity of socialization on devastation response to the public. The government has taken a number of action to anticipate fire including drills, supervisions, dissemination of information in potential devastation, and warning signages such as in dangerous spots for swimming along Sanur beach.
For beter response to devastation in Denpasar, Jaya Negara suggested people to make use of online call center dedicated for devastation report on 233333. People are expected to immediately report occurance of falling trees, fire, flood and any other similar incidents to the number, so the government can distribute it to relevant bodies for follow up.
Mayor’s Assistant in Development I Ketut Wisada, S.E., M.Si. expects a synergy among offices, bodies, and squads within the government as well as related NGOs and foundation.
Attending the briefing were quick reacting unit, administrative police, transportation office, river management team, cleanliness office, landscaping office, fire squad, red cross, lifeguards, SAR, amateur radio organization, social welfare office, and the call center crews.
