Puri Alit shopping complex on Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai in Kuta has been robbed on Monday (January 19th) over midnight. Group consisted of four robbers with guns targetted the office of PT Laena Tour and Travel owned by Idris Laena.

Five employees of the office Gede Suasta (48 years old), I Gusty Nyoman Agus Seni Antara (25 years old), I Wayan Wedayasa (25 years old), Wayan Restu (22 years old), and Dewa Gede Putra (28 years old) were locked in a room with hands tied by plastic rope with their mouth sealed with adhesive tape. The robbers took away five hand phones as well as 15 million rupiah and 172 US dollars in cash.

Witness explained that the robbery took place at 02.00 local time. Employees including two security guards were watching soccer game on television when suddenly two strangers enter the room and put a gun on Dewa Putra and threatened them that they will be killed if they make any attempt to fight. Dewa Putra who firstly made his attempt to fight by holding the other end of the gun by his hand finally surrendered. “I hold the gun, I felt it sturdy and heavy so I believed that it was a real gun. Nothing I can do other than surrender,” said Dewa Putra.

Other two robbers then also entered the room. With for men all holding a gun in their hands, all employees were scared and followed the instruction to lay down and then left themselves tied down and sealed. They were also been beaten and kicked.

The incident took place for quite a long while. About one hours the robbers search the whole office, and leave immediately after they got all they wanted. The employees were left alone locked. Fortunately Dewa Putra managed to release himself. “Together with Gede Suarta I managed to get myself untied and informed the incident to a friend who work at Court electronic shop across the street and report to the nearest police station,” Dewa Putra said.

Police came to the location right after the report received. Immediate on-site investigation as well as witness interviews were made at once. With witness description police identified to robbers through face sketching. One robber has short body, dark brown skin, long and curly hair, wearing black hat, and Timorese accent. Another one has similar appearance except short hair.

Denpasar Police Chief, Senior Commissioner I Gede Alit Wardana confirmed the incident and informed that further investigation is ongoing. Police has shown witnesses a number of official police guns, but non of them confirmed similar to what were held by the robber.

3. Padang Udayana Residential Complex, Denpasar.
4. Jalan Imam Bonjol, Denpasar.
5. Jalan Taman Sari, Sunset Road, Kuta.
6. PT Laena Tour and Travel, Jalan By-pass Nguarh Rai, Kuta.
