I Made Kariasa (19 years old) and I Nengah Ariawan (24 years old) could be classified as unprofessional thieves. When they were in a burglary action at Villa Sari Uma Cottage on Jalan Sarinada, Seminyak, they saw a telephone sitting on a bed side table. They used the telephone to call their friend.
The telephone did not connect them to their friend, but to the reception desk instead. “The telephone is for internal use only. It can not be use to make calls outside,” said an officer at Denpasar City Police Headquarter yesterday (Thursday, March 5th).
Their action was immediately uncovered as the receptionists knew exactly that the guest staying at that certain villa unit was goung out. The were then caught by the villa’s security guards and then forwarded to Kuta police station for further process. As police was seeing evidence that there were more than two in their group, they were then transferred to Denpasar police headquarter for further investigation.
The incident took place on Tuesday (March 4th) at about 21.00 local time. In their action, Ariawan acted as the executor, whilst Kariasa waited outside the villa to watch the situation around. As he got into the villa, Ariawan approached the safety deposit box. Unfortunately the safe was locked. As he did not know how to open the safe, he intended to ask Kariasa who was monitoring the situation outside the villa. Ariawan did not bring a cell phone, so he used the hotel telephone to make the call.
Most of Seminya villas has sufficient number of certified security guards.
