Organic Farming to be Introduced ad Plaga

Plaga village of Petang was chosen for introduction of organic farming considering its suitable land, climate, and potentials. The plan was announced during the visit of Deputy of Reseach of the Ministry for Cooperatives, I Wayan Dipta, who was accompanied by Taiwanese Technical Mission, Lee Ching Shui to Plaga on Thursday, March 12th.
Dipta was welcomed by the Head of Cooperatives and SME (small and medium enterprises) of Badung regency, Nyoman Suasta, 2nd Assistant of Badung Regency Government, I Wayan Suambara, Head of Farming office of Badung Regency, I Gst. Made Agung, Head of Industry and Trade Office of Badung Regency, Putu Murniathi, Head of Husbandry Office of Badung Regency, Made Badra, Head of Economic Department of Badung Regency Government, Nyoman Predangga, and District Head of Petang, Nyoman Suardana.
The Government of Badung Regency committed to their full support in introduction of organic farming at Plaga village, as it corresponds to one of the mission of Badung Regency Government to promote a better balance between southern part and the northern part of the regency. “If the new system is bringing benefit to the farmer, the Government of Badung Regency will supprt the funding as well,” said the Head of Protocol and Public Relation Department of Badung Regency, I Gede Wijaya. Regent’s Assistant Wayan Suambara added that to improve human resource, the Government of Badung Regency has establish a vocational school on farming at Plaga. “The vocational school was intended to become the embryo to make professional human resource,” he said.
Wayan Dipta explained that the presence of Prof. Lee who came down from Thailand was expected to educate farmers for better ways of farming to increase their household income. “Let us build Plage properly to create Badung a Jagadhita area. The key is your motivation,” said Wayan Dipta.
Prof. Lee said that spacious and fertile land should be exploited for products with high economic value, such as hygienic food. High quality is required for good price. Prof. Lee would introduce modern farming which was potential to bring high quality products in sufficient volume to ensure good selling price.
In the night after inspection to Plaga, a meeting was conducted at Hotel Ramada Bintang Bali, Kuta. The meeting was attended by the Regent of Badung, Gde Agung, S.H., ,Setelah melihat Plaga, malamnya digelar rapat di Ramada Bintang Bali, Kuta. Rapat dihadiri Bupati Badung Gde Agung, S.H., Deputy of Reseach of the Ministry for Cooperatives, I Wayan Dipta, Taiwanese Technical Mission, Lee Ching Shui, Head of Cooperatives and SME (small and medium enterprises) of Badung regency, Nyoman Suasta, 1st Secretary of Badung Regency Government, Wayan Subawa, and other related officials.
Prof. Lee hoped that introduction of organic farming commodity would be implemented and every related parties would cooperate together. Regent of Badung expressed serious commitment his administratrion in the introduction of organic farming commodity.
