The Regent of Bangli, I Nengah Arnawa, S.Sos., M.M., has paid an ispection to Pasar Kidul on Monday (March 23rd). Accompanying his visit were high ranking officials within his administration including Head of the Office of Industry and Head of the Office of Public Works, and head of Pasar Kidul I Wayan Jeben Windra. The inspection was conducted in relation to the plan of the Minstry of Trade to put 5 billion rupiah for expansion and renovation of the market.
Arnawa said that according to the plan, the expansion will accommodate all the traders which at the moment occupied the sidewalk and even the street. Tents erected by the traders on both left and right wings of the market makes it looks dirty. “With the available funding the government of Bangli Regency will build a two story building. The first floor will be allocated for parking space and the second floor to accommodate the traders,” he explained.
Head of Bangli Office for Industry and Trade, Dewa Supartha, said that the expansion and renovation are expected to solve the problem caused by very limited parking space in the area. Construction work will be started in June and expected to be completed by the end of the year. During the construction traders will be relocated to a temporary area at Loka Serana transport terminal.
During his visit the Regent made his time to have dialogue with the traders. A number of traders expressed their support to the renovation, and expected the government to allocate temporary area for them to keep their business running.
