Construction Workers Arrested for Villa Burglary

One after another, the crooks involved in a burglary in north Kuta were arrested by the force from Kuta police office. Police arrested three construction workers working at a construction project at the same neighborhood as the victim. Asep Sudarmawan (20 years old), Samsul Arifin (26 years old), and Heru Agus Susanto (22 years old) were arrested for being suspects of a burglary at Villa Lotus, Jalan Raya Bumbak, Banjar Anyar, Umalas, Kuta Utara, Badung which was occupied by Dutch national Hedwig Hanser (60 years old).
A number of electronic devices stolen from the villa were stored at their place. Their criminal action uncovered when a witness checked their place and found the missing stuffs from the victim’s bedroom. The witness then went to police office of North Kuta to place a report on Friday (April 24th) at 22.30 local time.
Head of North Kuta police office, Adjunct Commissioner Si Darma Putra on Tuesday (April 28th) told the press that investigators took immediate action as soon as the report placed. Two suspects, Heru originating from Mojokerto and Samsul originating from Jember were arrested in a construction site in Jimbaran whilst Wawan, also originating fom Jember, was arrested in his residence.
Seizure started when a witness found victim’s belongings in suspects’ residence. Being positive that the stuffs belong to the victim, he informed officers at North Kuta police station. As the police confirmed the ownership of the stuffs in subject, they started to chase the suspects. “Obviously we were targetting those living in the construction camp”, said the police officer originating from Mengwi, who was accompanied by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of North Kuta Police Office, 2nd Inspector Arief Prasetya during the press briefing.
Once arrested, suspects were brought to the police office. In interrogation they admitted that they decided to commit a criminal conduct as their supervisor has not paid their salary whilst they were running out of money to cover their living. Suspects admitted that they were forced to commit a criminal conduct as their employer late to pay their wages.
Stolen goods include two compo tape player, cable TV decoder, and cassette recorder, which were seized by the police as evidences, all of which were estimated to sum up to about 3 million rupiah. Suspects were charged for a burglary and facing more than 5 years imprisonment.
