Police operation on foreigners with suspected involvement in trading and possessing drug remains in force. Two Swedish nationals Kjell Avald Holst (25 years old) and Karl John Bronell (26 years old) were arrested with cannabis on hand, when a force from the drug enforcement department of Bali police headquarter, under command of Senior Commissioner Kokot Indarto, conduct an operation at Hotel Blues Hard Rock, Kuta, on Friday (April 24th) at 22.20 local time.
In room 31113 of Hotel Blues Hard Rock Kuta where they lived, police found cannabis formed in cigarette rolls. There were also consumed evidence, 8.9 grams of rolled cannabis. “The evidence was found in a Targus laptop bag”, said the spokesman of Bali Police Headquarter, Senior Commissioner I Gde Sugianyar in a press briefing on Friday (May 1st).
Sugianyar informed that the seizure was started by someone who reported a drug party in a hotel room. Police force sent to investigate conducted a thorough search immediately in the room occupied by the two suspects. “We immediately conducted a thorough search. We carefully scanned the whole room from under the bed to every small spaces which could be used to hide evidence,” he said.
Both suspects were then taken to Bali police headquarter for further process. So far suspects informed that they bought the cannabis from a dealer in Lombok for Rp. 400,000. “They spent a holiday in Lombok before moving to Hotel Blues Hard Rock Kuta two days prior to their seizure”, he continued. They plan to consume all of the cannabis during their stay in Bali. So far the were charged for possessing and consuming drug and facing a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and Rp. 500 million fine.
To catch the dealer, Senior Commissioner Indarto said that his office will work together with local police authority in Lombok.
