The Regent of Buleleng, Putu Bagiada, expressed his sincere appreciation and commitment to fully support international conference and festival of north Bali culture which is scheduled to take blace between July 30th and August 2nd in Singaraja. The Regent stressed the importance of successful organization of the event as it directly affect the image of Buleleng and Bali tourism.
The Regent made his statement on Wednesday (June 3rd) at his office when the event organizing committee made a courtesy visit. Representing the committee was the Chairman Dr. Made Sutama, Executive Chairman I Gusti Bagus Sudhatmala Sugriwa, and a few other members including Prof. Dr. Wayan Dibia, Gde Dharna, and Agung Suamba.
Accompanied by head of Culture and Tourism Office of Buleleng, Putu Tasra Wijaya, Regent Bagiada admitted that so far the cultural heritage of north Bali has often marginalized, despite of rich art and cultural potential enough to be presented in both national and international scoope. It was proven by a number of unique traditional art of north Bali which received significant appreciation when presented in international events.
He hoped the conference to bring a positive impact in better compilation of north Bali’s unique traditional art and culture. “I am committed to give a full support and hope that the organizing committee to work hard for the ultimate objective in revitalizing unique traditional culture of north Bali”, he said.
The Chairman of the organizing committee, Dr. Sutama exposed that the conference and festivals will be attended buy some teens of international Bali culture observers and tens from academicians, artists, and observers both from local and national levels. Expected result was a compiled database to allow better promotion of north Bali culture as an integral component of Balinese culture.
Prof. Dibia as one of the innitiators said that the event innitiated by artists and cultural observers of north Bali will bring significant impact in promotion of art and cultural diversity of Bali inherited among generations. Prof. Dibia believes that routine cultural events such as the annual Bali Cultural Festival (PKB) were based on uniformity instead of diversity.
Innitiative of the event came from professors in a number of Dutch universitues Dr. Henrice Vonck and Prof. Dr. Heidi Hinzler in collaboration with Foundation for Protection of North Bali Culture founded by Wiratha Sindhu.
In addition to discussion and performance, there would be exhibition and visit to a number of cultural centre such as Nagasepha, Tejakula, and Banyuatis village.
