Two consecutive incidents took place in Gianyar regency over the weekend. Two temples in different locations were burnt on fire in one night, part of village temple of Gelunggung and three buildings at village temple of Batuan.

Fire at village temple of Gelunggung took place at about 12.30 local time. Witnesses suspected that fire which burnt the building full of wooden carving very quickly was caused by incense as during the incident a number of local residents were praying. To help people to cease the fire, three cars of fire brigade was mobilized.

At Batuan fire started to burn part of the temple, which is quite popular to tourists, at about 15.30 local time when local residents were working on preparation of a ceremony to take place on September 19th. Stove explosion rapidly burnt buildings made of wood and thatched roof.

Commander of Gianyar’s fire brigade, Wayan Gede Eka Putra said that three cars were mobilized to help locals to control and cease the fire. The process ran effectively, and fire was ceased before it started to burn other parts of the temple.

Prior to these two incidents, fire burnt down to earth resident of Anak Agung Gede Putra, also in Gianyar.
