Since the last two days, Sanglah Hospital hospitalizes a victim of bomb explosion in Jakarta. A patient names Gusti Agung Made Rai (63 years old), originating from Gianyar, was among the survived victims of the terror attack taking place at two luxurious hotels The Ritz Carlton and JW Mariott in Jakarta.  At the moment he is hospitalized at International Wing of the hospital.

With regard to patient’s condition, Head of Medical Service of Sanglah Hospital, dr. Gusti Lanang Suartana explained that the patient was not referred from hospital in Jakarta. “He once hospitalized by MMC Hospital in Jakarta and physically fully recovered. However as he came home to Bali, he asked for hospitalization at Sanglah Hospital to calm himself down and take some rest”, Suartana said.

Patient’s decision to ask for hospitalization is to ease trauma. “Physically the patient is in a good shape. However he feels in need of psychological treatment to overcome his trauma”, Suartana said.

Suartana further explained that the patient is now getting cross discipline treatment by a team involving internists, surgeon specialists, ear – nose – throat specialists, psychiatrists, and other supporting specialists. “The patient is getting better now and only needs some more rest”, he added.

With regard to police protection, Surtana said that it was at patient’s own discretion. “I do not know about police protection. Our job is to give medical services. The protection is at the patient’s own discretion”, Suartana said. The patient himself refused an interview to share his experience in the incident. His family suggested to wait until the patient fully recovered.
