The Ministry for Culture and Tourism confirmed performance of Pendet dance in a cultural exhibition in Malaysia in September. The performance is intended to strengthen acceptance that Pendet dance is a dance originated from Bali.

The Director for International Promotion of the Ministry for Culture and Tourism, Gede Pitana, in a press conference in Sanur said that performance of Pendet dance is also expected to attract visitors to Indonesia pavilion. But on top of those objectives, the performance represents the rich treasure art and cultural heritage of Indonesia.

“Among the objectives is to show that Indonesia is rich of cultural treasure. Bali has many traditional dances, including Pendet dance”, Pitana said. Pitana hoped that presentation of Pendet dance can attract tourists to come to Bali as it will be even more interesting to enjoy the performance in its origin.
