Commission III of Karangasem Regional Legislature received lot of suggestions according to executive difficulties in collecting tax toward water tourism activity in Karangasem. Though the officer of Dispenda Karangasem – Regional Income Official of Karangasem – had applied collection system in place, this system met an obstacle in its application. The officer often had fight with that water activity tourism manager. “I had it in my agenda to check it straightly considering to that water tourism activity. Before, we checked first the C mining and portal condition which had already gave some result,” said the chief of Commission III I Made Wirta S.E. in Amlapura on Sunday, November 22nd.

Several complaints from the officer are varied. “I don’t believe them! We only charge Rp 20.000 for one activity whereas the tourist paid up to 52 American dollars, said one of the officer who didn’t want his identity to be mentioned.

The officer, as been said, frequently gets quarreled at Desa Padangbai Beach when collecting the tax. They wait for the diving activity; after the tourist finished diving, they collecting the tax.

Lately, the government was trying to protect the coral reefs remain stable, free from group of criminals who used bomb for fishing. Since coral reef together with its fish is such a great potential for tourism continuity.

These times what becomes the main objective for the tax officer is diving tourism activity. That activity spreads along Banjar Samuh beach, Bugbug beach, Karangasem district, Banjar Medira beach, Sengkidu village (Manggis District), Jemeluk beach (Purwekerti Village, Abang District), Desa Bunutan Beach (Abang District), and Tulamben village beach at Kubu District. While for rafting activity is in Muncan village of Selat District, Tangkup village of Sidemen District. “That’s why I checked it first in field, what is the problem for collecting that tax. I’ll find the solution and solve it between those two parties,” said Wirta.
