Electrical crisis which threatens black out directly make Bali take anticipatory steps. DPRD Bali had approved undersea cable crossing project and the entry of saluran udara tegangan ekstra tinggi (SUTET) – extra high voltage airways – through Gilimanuk.

SUTET entry into Bali before had become a controversy among the council members, governor, and PLN of Bali area – National Electrical Company – It soon will be executed by recommend this program application into the Bali’s Council. This SUTET development will be built went through the edge forest area of Taman Nasional Bali Barat (TNBB) – West Bali National Park – erase the former discussion about passing it right into the forest.
The coordinator of Commission III DPRD Bali, Ketut Suwandhi on Thursday, December 3rd said that SUTET entering Bali had been agreed with one condition that its development wouldn’t went through TNBB. “It had been agreed by the central PLN as well as with the Forestry Department. We had already conveyed it to the Forestry Minister concerning electrical problem in Bali. As well as to PLN. PLN and Forestry Department had agreed and supported this program,” said Suwandhi.
According to Suwandhi, SUTET will be delivered through the undersea cable crossing in Bali Strait and had been suggested merely reach Jembrana. As soon as it entering Bali it can be continued by developing main guardhouse in Jembrana. We will look certain area for the location of main guardhouse then from that guardhouse we will start its distribution around Bali,” said Suwandhi. Relates to the main guardhouse development, said Suwandhi, it should remain pointing to the environmental aspect. It means that every program concerning this project development should consider its environmental aspect so it wouldn’t give any affects.

“Latter we can coordinate with Regional Government and there’s should be a study also. If we talk about SUTET then it had been clear form the Forestry Department to build it through merely the edge of TNBB. Then for the main guardhouse also need another study again. Technically we will talk with PLN and concerned parties,” said Suwandhi while mentioned that SUTET is no need to enter Bali with another development of main guardhouse in Kapal, Mengwi Badung.

Head of Commission I DPRD Bali, Made Arjaya separately said that the probability of this SUTET project get through is quite high. But it should be remembered always that Bali still has to seek for the new electrical power sources. Arjaya who formerly strictly prevented SUTET entering Bali together with old period council members mentioned that one of those new power supplies is coming from electrical generator in Celukan Bawang.

“As long as SUTET get recommendation from concerned institution or parties then we wouldn’t get any problem. Since in its former plan it will be build by went through TNBB, now if it should went through it not from the edge, continuous study concerning its environment effect will be conducted. For another side, Bali should handling every effort concerning electrical power source excavating, so this island wouldn’t always rely on electrical supply from Java. Besides PLN should be able to give maximum guarantee and service especially for this SUTET development, that it is not dangerous for the environment if SUTET does entering Bali due to its radiation effect is much for public anxiety,” said Arjaya. Inconstant electricity together with rotating black out will continued until January 15th, 2010. This, as been reported by PLN Public Relationship department of Bali Distribution, Agung Mastika on Wednesday December 2nd. He said that the reason of this lengthened is due to the rental generator from PLTGU Gilimanuk get apart from planning.

“The reason is the damage at compressor which had been fixed but still need tools from foreign country makes us need to order it first and cost us another time addition,” said Mastika.
