West Sumatera – Sumbar – government will cooperate with print media in Bali in order to accelerate Sumbar promotion toward its tourism potential to the foreign tourists who visit the island.

“We will joint cooperation with Bali provincial government and printed media there in order to support the promotion of Sumbar tourism sector in the future,” said Sumbar governor, Marlis Rahman after receiving aid for earthquake victims from the representation of Bali Post employees and readers for Rp 384 million.
According to the governor, term of cooperation with printed media in Bali especially Bali Travel News especially in tourism promotion is delivering news and advertisements considering Sumbar tourism potential objects.

The purpose of this cooperation has a relationship with the number of European visitors in Bali make it appear as one chance for Sumbar to introduce its tourism potential through printed media in Bali.

This is due to that printed media which concern itself in tourism promotion sector, leads it to hotels distribution in Bali, so if Sumbar tourism potential is inside of it then those European tourists could read it.
That effort, said the governor is one effective step in promoting Sumbar tourism before the foreign tourists and hope it will increase number of visitor into Sumbar.

Therefore, the head of Dinad Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata (Disbudpar) – Cultural and Tourism Division – asked to continued that cooperation plan and wish for the wriggle of Sumbar tourism sector post-earthquake will going well.

The governor also said that Sumbar provincial government had explore a cooperation with Bali Provincial Government related to their plan opening domestic line into Denpasar-Bali.

“Cooperation to open flight path Denpasar-Padang had explored by Angkasa Pura II Management before the earthquake happened. We still don’t know about the development yet and asked for Kadisbudpar Sumbar once again continued that cooperation,” he said.

Sumbar is one of marine and nature tourism object for foreign tourists but when they arrived in Bali they could not straightly flight to Sumbar.

It as far as tourists from varied countries in Europe make Mentawai Island as their suitable place for surfing. But if they had already in Bali they had to flight to Singapore first or Jakarta if they want to go to Padang.
Therefore, flight from Denpasar to International Airport of Minangkabau Padanpariaman is needed so the tourist will get close with Sumbar.

“We hope for this planned cooperation in promoting our tourism will be realized in 2010,” he hoped.
Before, Kadisbudpar Sumbar, James Hellyward mentioned Disbudpar Sumbar to allocate the fund reach Rp 6 billion to accommodate every kind of their tourism promotion either inside or outside the country that was allocated in APBD 2010 – 2010 Regional Budgetary Expense –

Sumbar tourism promotion fund in 2010 is tend to the “close range” promotion that is the countries with Sumbar traditional market such as Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Holland, Australia and domestic market.
Close range was targeted due to the world tourism market condition in 2010 that is predicted becoming weak as the effect climate change issue, consequently it make people around the world reducing their traveling activity, he added.
