
Sugar price in Bali is currently experiencing quite high price leap up of Rp 12.500 per kilogram. Though, its price before was averagely Rp 9.000 per kilogram. This happens due to the sugar crisis in the past month in Bali.
Head of Industrial and Trading Division in Bali province, Bali Gede Darmaja in his statement at Renon (January 22nd) mentioned that the occurrence sugar crisis in Bali is due to cessation of sugar supply from PT. PN XI since their lack of raw sugar.
Besides, this condition becomes more severe with the application of sugar shipment prohibition outside East Java province by the Governor itself despite the fact that all this time Bali is depend its sugar supply from that province.
“In Ketapang, the trucks that bring sugar stopped, they could not crossed the strait due to the East Java Governor prohibition,” said Gede Darmaja.
Gede Bali Darmaja mentioned before that Bali routinely get sugar supply from East Java around 7-10 tons per month. Meanwhile, the need for sugar in Bali per month is 5 tons. As for this month, there is only 8-ton sugar stock
While in Bali, the need for Sugar per month is for about 5 tons. As for one month ahead Bali only has 8 tons stock of sugar.
