Liquor Sweeping Before Nyepi

Gianyar Drug Unit of Gianyar Police Force under the command of Drugs Head Unit, AKP Nengah Sumadi for the last few days incessantly conducting liquor sweeping that freely bought and sold in the shop. Two liquor sellers at Banjar Tebesaya, Peliatan, Ubud in Gianyar and at Banjar Pagutan, Batubulan, Sukawati, Gianyar found to have tens of liters liquor varieties when the police conducted surprise inspection.

Sweeping at Tebesaya territory, the police found one bottle of liquor from Ibu Agung’s (70 years) stall and another three bottles from Gusti Niang’s stall. Whether, at the stall in Banjar Pagutan, Batubulan, the police found 35 liters liquor from Wayan Medal’s stall and 10 liter from Made Reti’s stall (37 years). All of the evidence is under the police custody now, means for further investigation.

Head of Gianyar Resort, Pahumas Kompol Gede Sujana confessed that that liquor seller’s arrestment conducted based on the police investigation after they got the information from the people who usually have drink at those places. After an investigation and it is proved to be true then they raided those stalls.

Besides, this liquor control operation is also part of anticipating the security before Nyepi Caka’s Years of 1932. This activity also stands as an effort to reduce drunken action which is vulnerable triggering misunderstanding and end into a fight.

This liquor operation will get more intense in the next few days, moreover with Nyepi day that comes closer especially when ogoh-ogoh parade take place, it is urged not to disturb order and security in which could reduce the values of holiday itself.
