344 Prisoners in Indonesia Receive Remission

At leats 344 prisoners in Indonesia received special remission in order to celebrate Nyepi Day of 1932 Caka New Year. 11 prisoners are stated free with conditionals. For Kerobokan penitentiary, there are 83 prisoners who received remission allotment.

Special remission I and II delivery was conducted at penitentiary II A Denpasar. Symbolically, head of Kerobokan penitentiary, Siswanto delivered the remission to one prisoner.

Besides, there is also special prisoners’ certificate for their English and computer courses while they are in jail.

Director General of Law Ministry and Human Right, Untung Sugiyono at Kerobokan Penitentiary on Tuesday (March 23) said that this remission was in order to commemorate Nyepi day.

Still this kind of remission is not a sentence reduction, but tend for those prisoners more behave and will accepted well in the middle of society.

“We hope they could introspect and evaluating themselves to find the right way in life,” he said.
He explained that for Kerobokan penitentiary those who have right with remission are 83 prisoners. By mean of 80 from Penitentiary II A Denpasar with remission special I that is sentence reduction for fifteen days. Meanwhile for the other three from house arrest received special remission II that is sentence reduction for one month. In Bali itself, there are 1518 jailbirds and nine penitentiaries.
