The condition of Yeh Gangga beach located in Sudimara Village in Tabanan Bali gets worsen followed the abrasion happened last two weeks. Bendesa – head – of Yeh Gangga village, I Ketut Leget in Tabanan on Sunday said that until today there is no action from related party to repress coastal erosion from abrasion.
“We had reported this problem to Fishery and Marine Agency for immediate handling,” said Leget.
From location observation, 300 meter of the coastal eroded by the sea and two rivers that surrounding the beach. That abrasion lengthwise from east to the west known for its lobster and layur fish potential.
“The abrasion also nearly went to the place where local put their offering for puja,” said Leget as he accompanied by one local fisherman figure, I Nengah Widia. If the land erosion reached the building called as “asagan” then it could disturb praying activity.
that is why, the local village has been prepare everything to transfer or build the new offering site more to the north or close to the land crowded with local people, either for praying or holidaying.
According to Leget, abrasion happened due to the Yeh Hempas river flows of change at the east of the beach that moved to the west or the right part of it. Usually, he said, the river flow went straight to the sea but since there is sand and rocks obstacle, it went right and eroded the coastal.
That condition also causes by the not ordered yet Batu Branjong building established by PU – Public Workers – four years ago, makes the sand to drift and shift its position into a higher one and hampering Yeh Hempas flow.
“We had proposed a request for PU to dredge the sand and piled it the sides of the river in order to straightening the river’s flow so it could went straight to the sea,” said Leget.
Besides caused by Yeh Hempas’s rivers flow alteration at the west side also happened for Pangkung River that could not go straight to the beach but turn to the left. This, finally cause the right and left side from both of the river is the reason for continuous abrasion and start to threatening coastal land area.
