Sulsel-Bali Develop Tourism Cooperation

Provincial government of South Sulawesi – Sulawesi Selatan (Sulsel) – soon will pioneering a cooperation between Bali Provincial Government in advancing tourism sector at Tanah Toraja.

“This cooperation hopes could be signed soon since the preparation and agreement between the two parties had been steady,” said South Sulawesi Regional Secretary, H. Andi Mualim in Makassar, Wednesday.

He said it when accepted 28 members of Media Informasi Pembangunan lead by head of Bali Provincial Public Relationship and Protocol Bureau, I Putu Suardhika at local Governor Office.

Cooperation between Bali and South Sulawesi government is in term of bring in foreign tourists to South Sulawesi, especially into Tanah Toraja that is precisely had once already established before Bali bomb tragedy happened on October 12, 2002.

Andi Mualim explained, after the tragedy that killed 202 people and hundreds got injured, Bali tourism gradually recovered, meanwhile the tourism area in Tanah Toraja, Sulsel was in torpor.

Bali which every year receive 2.3 million foreign tourists hoped in the future could directing the tourists to continue their traveling from Bali to Sulsel.

“Tanah Toraja also has cultural art uniqueness as well as natural scenery not least from Bali,” Andi Mualim said.

The cooperation that is expected will be sign on May 2010 could spur Sulsel tourism development.
South Sulawesi provincial government is now preparing for becoming East Indonesia gateway as well as build adequate facilities at Hasanuddin airport, Andi Mualim said.
