2.1 Million Labors Generation in Bali

Statistic Center Agency recorded, labor force in Bali reached 2.166.972 people on February 2010, and went through 56.114 additional numbers or around 2.72 percent compared with the same month last year that was 2.110.828 people.

“The increasing of working age population is followed by the increasing of people age above fifteen years old,” said head of BPS Bali, Ida Komang Wisnu in Denpasar, Monday.

He said, employment opportunities accompanied with quite well economic growth that is 5.5 percent per year giving chance to open business opportunity and creating new job fields.

Ida Komang Wisnu added, unemployment rate reached 3.57 percent or about 15.230 people compared with February 2009 recorded only 2.93 percent.

Thanks to the improving Bali economic activity in this recent year, Bali could absorb 40.884 labors.

He confessed, even though Bali tends to move forward, but this island still could not fully absorb additional 56.114 labors.

People with laborer or worker status on February 2010 are 639.322 people or 31.32 percent followed by those who are impermanent laborer for 434.947 people (21.31 percent) and those with individual business are 326.937 people (16.02 percent).

1.571.421 worker work above 35 hours per week (76.98 percent) and 16.967 people (0.83 percent) work less than eight hour every day, said Ida Komang Wisnu.
