Guide as the key for tourist increase

Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia (HPI) – Indonesian Guide Association – cooperates with Ministry of Indonesia Cultural and Tourism Affair held 2010 Indonesian National Guiding Competition in Bali starting from May 6-20.
This competition aims for the increase of guiding technique and skill so those guides will give their maximum service for the tourists and as part of preparation phases before facing the next ASEAN GUIDE 2011 in Indonesia. Knowledge, skill, attitude and language, for guides in Indonesia and especially in Bali are important. Since, with those guide knowledge whilst accompanying the tourists will bring about understanding with the objects visited by them.
In order to raise guide ability, HPI cooperating with Ministry of Cultural and Tourism Affair Indonesia held 2010 Indonesian National Guiding Competition in Bali, that activity planned will be participated by 33 provinces in Indonesia, but from the location recorded merely 30 them participating in that competition. Those who not attended were West Java, Middle Sulawesi and Riau. According to the secretary of Directorate General Tourism Destination, Winarso Sudjas, aspects viewed in this competition is Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia (SKKNI) – Indonesian National Standard Working Competition – covers skill, knowledge, attitude as well as communication skill and performance.
“The need toward professional ability for guides would guaranteeing tourism service and explanation, since guide is one of the keys holding the tourism aspects. Those people who accompanying, explaining everything to the tourists starting from their arrival until the time for their leaving. So professional here is a must,” explained Winarno the guides participating the competition at Aston Hotel. With that guide competition activity, central executive council HPI hoped that through becoming Indonesian candidate in “ASEAN Tourist Guides Challenge 2011” planned held in Indonesia.
“The best participant in this Indonesian guiding competition will be included in ASEAN Tourist Guides Challenge 2011 that according to the plan will be held next year in Indonesia,” explained Kandia, as the general chairman for HPI central executive council.
