Denpasar Government budgeted IDR 500 million of fund for “Sanur Village Festival” or the fifth SVF in 2010.

“This annual art and cultural event for Sanur Village this year will be five hundred million Rupiah,” said Denpasar Mayor Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra in Denpasar, on Tuesday.

According to him, this event is part of promotional activity. SVF had give important meaning for tourism development in Denpasar and Bali as well as accommodating people aspiration.

“SVF has become our annual calendar in performing varied of people creativities,” he said when talked face to face with SVF committees.

Besides fund support for SVF, he said, Denpasar city government will also give others supporting facilities such as medical team and firefighters’ truck.

“We totally supported this SVF activity since this activity is one among tourism agenda of Denpasar City,” said Rai Mantra.

It is said that hope upon Sanur as tourism destination object is great since that village could maintain their local culture without getting drift with the swift flow from foreign culture interference.

“Sanur will continue to live side by side with modernization without leaving their cultural core. Moreover Sanur has clear identity makes it famous around the world,” he said.

Head of Yayasan Pembangunan Sanur Ida Bagus Sidharta Putra said that this Fifth SVF activity carrying “Saha Nuhur” as its theme, which has meaning for Sanur as the holy place where the sunrise asking for it Bless.

“This theme is intentionally lifted in order to remind Sanur existence in Bali,” said Sidharta Putra who familiarly called Gusde.

He said, Sanur as tourism destination is able to maintain their culture in the middle of foreign culture aggression. The presence of Hindu’s priests in Sanur could give new order for the live in that area.

“This Brahman group becomes thick role model in order to escort the traditional culture up until today,” he said.

He says his party has tried to lift Sanur potential once again. The event location has been back to its original location at Jalan Segara.

“Before, SVF we had held it at Pantai Mertasari. But now it back along Inna Grand Bali Beach and Jalan Segara,” he said.
