Bali traditional painting art is still exist until today., hope could able to stand in line with modern or contemporary style which rapidly develop.
“We hope for art of Balinese traditional painting would not necessarily get sink by the modern art,” said Anak Agung Gede Rai, the owner of Museum Arma in Ubud, on Thursday.
He mentioned, in order to avoid that event to be happened, three museums in the artisan and bohemian village of Ubud, Bali agreed to give support for traditional artists in this Island of God could develop the art of Balinese traditional painting.
In the middle of traditional painting exhibition exhibited 60 Bali’s maestro works, he says those third museums will give space for traditional paintings on canvas, besides Arma Museum there is also Neka Museum and Puri Lukisan Ubud Museum.
“Those third museums will always exhibit those traditional paintings in every chance,” he said.
Those three museums, in the end of 2009 will simultaneously held thorough exhibition exhibited 180 Balinese traditional painting.
Agung Rai added that Balinese traditional painting is a big community in which keeps growth and development with its own development.
“The phenomenon appears from Balinese traditional painting is the most important things to be known by the wider community,” said Agung Rai.
He explains in its development, art of traditional painting has led to the appearance of Mashab Sanur and Nagasepha representing North Bali painting pattern. Besides, there is also Mashab Kamasan for Klungkung regency, Mashab Batuan in Ubud and Mashab Kapal in Badung.
In its development, Mashab Ubud has divided itself into sub mashab which are Submashab Kutuh, Keliki, Taman, Tebesaya, Padang Tegal, Pengosekan and Penestan whose give birth to the large flow of Young Artist.
In its development, this art had give birth to some legendary figures such as Anak Agung Gede Sobrat, I Gusti Ketut Kebot, Ida Bagus Made Widja, Ida Bagus Made Poleng and I Gusti Putu Mokoh.
This art also producing young talented artist with promising prospect, among them are Made Sunarta, Wayan Beneh, Nyoman Sarna and I Gusti Agung that continue involved themselves in art activities on canvas.
In order to support Balinese traditional painting, Arma Museum in Ubud held exhibition presenting 60 paintings from Balinese maestro.
The exhibition will be held for three weeks, starting from June 19 to July 11 2010 opened by Gianyar Regent, Tjokorda Oka Arta Ardhana Sukawati.
