Benoa Reclamation Project Stopped

Reclamation project at Benoa Harbor stopped since there is no prolong agreement with other institutions.
“It has wide territory, so in order to conduct reclamation we needs agreement with other authorized institutions. This is yet to be agreed,” said General Manager of Pelabuhan Indonesia co, (Pelindo) III Benoa branch, Bali, Bambang Priyanto in Benoa, on Friday.

In the middle of greening area event at Benoa Harbor, the reclamation project run by Pelindo III as harbor expansion still canceled. Although, for another project, such as dredging act around passenger port and Benoa greening event keep continued.

The initial plan was reclamation at the north part of the harbor conducted as harbor and tourism supporter.

“Our plan is through this reclamation, Benoa would become marine area used for tourism object. It viewed has strategic location to support tourism in Bali since it close to Sanur, Kuta and Nusa Dua,” he said.

He said that project cancelation did not make Pelindo remain silent. Now Pelindo party still have other program such as dredging project.

“Nowadays, ocean depth around the harbor is around eight meter and we will dredging it up to nine meter depth,” Bambang explained.

Besides, he said that his party is intensively conduct greening action and cleans all part of Benoa harbor.
He explained that this greening conducted through inviting Denpasar Government and some NGOs such as Yayasan Gerakan Kembali ke Desa.

“We prepared around 15 thousand sea firs planted all around harbor area,” he said.

Bambang confessed that today, Benoa is the most clean and beautiful harbor compared with other harbor under Pelindo III management, this kind of thing that Pelindo III want to continuously maintain.

“We’ll keep developing this harbor and prioritize harbor’s cleanliness and beauty,” Bambang said.
