2.5 Kilogram Heroin Lady from Philippine

Drug smuggling in term of 2.5 kilogram Heroin at Ngurah Rai Airport in Tuban, which suspected Carolina Sarmiento Bautista (41) arrested, showed new development. Caroline confessed that during her transit in Bali and Jakarta, there is “someone” who always contacting her in Malaysia.

According to Head Unit 1 Dit Drugs Polda Bali AKBP Rudy Efendi S.H. accompanied by head department of Public Relationship Polda Bali Kombes Pol Gde Sugianyar, the suspect Caroline is a Philippine who on July came to Malaysia finding job.

She stated to the investigator, in Malaysia, that she met with a Philippine acquaintance there and offered a job.

“The suspect offered a job and before that she must go to Bali for holiday and had been given 1000 US Dollar as well as 5 Million Rupiah cash,” he explained.

That Philippine citizen asked Caroline to bring a bag to Bali, which according to the suspect confession; she did not know the content inside of it.

Latter, during her holiday in Bali, that Philippine asked the suspect transited to Jakarta, from there she ought to flight back to Malaysia and starting her new job.

“The suspect is given 10 days to have holiday in Bali and Jakarta whilst carrying the bag. She confessed that she did not know the content of the bag,” AKBP Rudi revealed on Wednesday (July 14).

The suspect who is never visiting Bali then departed with Air Asia flight number AK 364 destination Kuala Lumpur – Denpasar – Jakarta. According to the suspect, Carolina only stay one night at Hotel Dayu, Jl. Kartika Plaza, Kuta.

“During her travel to Bali and Jakarta, the suspect always contacted by her acquaintance. After we checked it, that hand phone number most of them came from Malaysia, but after the suspect arrested, that phone shifted into mailbox service,” he explained.

Caroline who had in college for four semesters in Philippine is suspected an international drug syndicates. It is due to her statement that she had gone to several countries such as India, Macao, Vietnam, Peru and Malaysia, in 2009 to 2010.

AKBP Rudi is amazed of how a formerly female migrant worker departed from one country to another without any clear explanation for her job.

“She said that she had once was a migrant worker, this statement that lead us to chase after her activities during her traveling into some countries. We suspected that there is international syndicate behind it, we still investigate it now,” he examined.

It is said that Dit Drug of Bali Police had already sent a letter in concern with the arrestment of Caroline to Philippine Embassy in Jakarta. There is still no reply from the embassy since it only posted on Wednesday (July 14).

The suspect Caroline arrived at Ngurah Rai Airport in Tuban on Monday (July 12) around 08.00 p.m. Customs officers suspicious with her luggage. From X-ray detection showed that there are some thick orange layers indicating organic material in it. Suspicious, the customs officers then lead the suspect to the material checking post. After they searched it, it was true that inside the suspect luggage found 2.5-kilogram heroin worth for 7.2 Billion Rupiah.

The suspect who was born in Cainta Rizal Philippine on March 15, 1969 confessed that that heroin supplied from Malaysia. The woman who used Passport number EB0349802 confessed that she paid for $1000 America (IDR 10 million) and 5 million Rupiah in cash, specifically brought the heroin to Bali. The suspect would snare with Bill No. 35/2009 about drugs especially in chapter 113 verse 1 and 2 with dead penalty.
