Prices Soar, Chili Rot

Even though chili prices highly increasing, not all chili farmers could feel the profit fully. It is due to the soaring prices does not followed by good crop result, their chili rotten. Nowadays, chili prices, especially for cayenne pepper, reached 30 thousand Rupiah per kilogram. The situation make those farmer could only sigh.
Mr. Win, one of the chili farmers in Dauhwaru Jembrana, when met at his chili garden on Sunday (July 18) is irritated toward lots of his chilies are rotten and dead. His hope to achieve big profit this season failed. The failure caused by never ending rain fell during the week.

Mr. Win said that due to the never-ending rain, one plant that should has give one kilogram cayenne pepper merely able resulting half of it. In addition to lots of them cannot be sold since there are rotten cayenne peppers among them.

“For other farmer, perhaps they gain profit but here I was loss,” said Mr. Win whilst sigh deeply. He could not do much for this crop failure happened to him.
