The Department of Industry and Trade of Denpasar Extend the Market to the Batam

Denpasar (Antara Bali) – Although the small and medium enterprises in the center city of Bali province raising in these few days but the department of industry and trade started to extend the market to Batam city.
”We have surveyed the extension of the market access to Batam with UKM group and many kinds of potential product’ craftsman marketed to the other region,” said the head of the Department of Industry and Trade of Denpasar, Drs. Wayan Gatra.

That trade mission activity did with meeting and signature the agreement note (MoU) with the head of Market office and some businessman in Batam on August 18th – 21st in the Center of Information and Hajj Service Batam City.
According to Wayan Gatra who leads this trade mission, his group have been done some activities to extend market access such as the trade exhibition, marketing via internet or e-commerce and the others conventional ways.
“We did many things to raise domestic production to pushed economy growth of people. If this mission has been success, it will be made same pattern like this,” he said.

It is have been told if in this free trade era, the marketing of a product beyond the boundary of a country. The abroad products flooded domestic market everyday.
“This condition needs to be anticipated with the efficient promotion and marketing, besides we have to paying attention about the quality of in demand product,” he said.

Batam has chosen as the center of trade mission’ activity because this region is the most visit destination of tourism and also the industry city especially for Malaysia and Singapore workers.
With the consistence of trade mission between the Denpasar’ businessman and Batam ones, we hopes it can run the distribution of product to the consumers.
“We hope our craft which is known by tourist can be marketed in Batam directly,” said Gatra who is accompanying with The Head of the Patronage of Department of Industry and Trade named Dra. Luh Gede Ratningrat. Ratningrat added the producer in Denpasar able to marketing their various product needed by abroad and domestic market, but still there are many problems in marketing domestic product especially in competing with import product.

“In the other side there are some specific problems appeared in the activities of small and medium trade, such as the rarity of raw materials, the absence of market access, the lack of price information and the local market opportunity,” she said.
The chosen products of Denpasar such as garment, endek fabric, silver, ceramic, spa products, wooden fan, accessories also the craft products made from natural stone promoted by trade mission. The head of Department of Trade and Industry of Batam, Ahmad Hijazi, SE, MSi and the Head of Batam Office, Ida Farida said if they are interested to help the marketing after watching the crafts from the Dewata island.
The Head of Office Ida Farida in that chance also invites some businessman and the manager of mall in Batam like Nagoya Hill, Mega Mall, DC Mall, PT. Sarinah, Harbour Mall and BCS Mall. “We are ready to help marketing the craft products of the Balinese craftsman,” she said.
