During the last decade Bali has seen an amazing growth of villa rental industry, private holiday homes rented out for holiday accommodation. The industry has been so mature that the villas offered for rent are no longer private home of some stranger as these properties are properly maintained and managed to maintain consistent quality and service excellence at the same grade as five-star resort hotels.
Gaining its experience in marketing private villa accommodation in Bali, Private Leisure International expanded its portfolio by acquiring properties in other tropical destinations in South-East Asia such as Phuket and Koh Samui in Thailand. Following its regional success the company identified emerging potential in a beautiful holiday destination which has been buried by domestic unrest for almost 30 years, Sri Lanka.
Owned and managed by native Indonesians Private Leisure International uses only local skill to fuel its growth, including Thai nationals for its Thailand. Its operation in other countries are also staffed by local talents. “We believe that our skill are no less than those born as well as gained education and experience in western countries”, Wisna Wedhana, the Bali-born Managing Partner motivated her team.
Whilst so far its Sri Lanka villas portfolio is still rather limited, Private Leisure International has started to draw evidences that growth is just a matter of time. “It is quite difficult at the moment as peace has just been achieved nationwide in about three years only, most of existing Sri Lanka villas are inherited from colonial era”, Wisna said whilst explaining that at the moment its operation in Sri Lanka only represent less than 10% of its global business. “But the country is in enormously rapid development which immediately followed by private and foreign investment, including villa development. Next year we will be seeing hundred of new villas entering the market”, she predicted.
Wisna’s confidence is backed up by sound analysis. Among prominent indicators are real estate market, current undergoing construction projects, as well as infrastructure development by the government. “Sri Lanka will become an important tourism destination as it is significantly closer from Europe, that is actually the reason behind our decision to enter the destination as soon as the security condition allows”, Wisna closed the interview.
